There are only a few meals in one's life that can be considered the best meal of your life for various reasons, e.g. the company you're with, location of dining experience, level of skill required to prepare the dishes, fact that you're on vacay. I'm basing my review on the ingredients, quality of execution, and exemplary service. Jack, the General Manager, welcomed us on a Saturday evening with a friendly, unpretentious manner. The restaurant itself is in a non-descript strip mall with plain decor.

We were a group of 6 and were seated right away. The place was packed and humming with happy, satisfied patrons. We immediately noticed the dishes that other tables ordered and there was a theme of steamed oysters, jelly fish and baby octopus cold appetizer, and tofu. We ordered the beef tenderloin with green and red peppers, steamed oysters, in house made tofu with crab sauce and broccoli, jelly fish and octopus cold plate, and the mustard and pork stomach soup. I know, the name of the soup is not appetizing but, the flavour was complex balance of savoury, spiced with white pepper corns and a hint of acidity that cut across any heaviness. The bursts of flavour from every bite was truly overwhelming. I highly recommend our menu items to anyone who appreciates complex flavours, impeccably executed textures and temperature of food. My benchmark for foods - I'm a serious food connoisseur who experiences dining at places ranging from 5 star Michelin restaurants to hole in the wall establishments for sheer pleasure. You're welcome -- enjoy the best meal of your life! Life is short!

By far the worse tasting Chinese food I've had in Calgary. The service isn't bad, but man the food taste way too bland. I mean I don't like salty food but the food here needs some soy sauce dosed onto it to make it even eatable. I would avoid this place especially during dinner hours since it get really packed.

Went here with my boyfriend and got the crispy fortune chicken and fortune fried rice. The fried rice was really tasty and was a good portion size for $14.95 on the other hand the crispy fortune chicken was only half a chicken, very dry, and not much meat for $17.95. I'm pretty sure they raised the prices and it was definitely not worth that price mark. On top of that I noticed everyone else from other tables were offered or given a Chinese dessert of either mango tapioca or sweet red bean soup at the end of their meal and we were not! I hate it when people pull the race card but in this case, that was probably why we were not offered. I'm Chinese but they probably don't think I understand or know Chinese because my boyfriend is white. I've been here before with my parents and was just offered the dessert, so it was extremely disappointed and we probably will not go back for awhile.

Great place for 'da lang' - evening snacks.  Good portion size and reasonable prices.  Staff is always friendly.  The dishes are as authentic as they can get in Calgary.   I always love their jelly fish and shredded chicken dish and their sour veggies and pig stomach soup (it is not sweet like other Chinese restaurants).   Parking is limited at the front as they share parking with rest of shops on the strip, but there's parking at the back as well....which most people don't know about.
